World of Warcraft Classic is an upcoming reimagining of the original World of Warcraft multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Similarly developed by the team at Blizzard Entertainment, the game aims to recreate the original experience that made the franchise so popular. Many of the graphics look exactly as they would in 2006, but with added smoothness in gameplay that new technology has brought. World of Warcraft was one of the most popular MMORPGs ever created, promoting the idea of in-game roleplay through dedicated RP servers.

You can expect all the original character models, combat mechanics and skill trees from the original incarnation of the game. This allows players to play this online classic before any of its original expansions and additions were implemented. In this fantasy game, you take on the role of character avatar and follow their in-world progress as they progress within a narrative set on the fictional planet of Azeroth, a world divided into four continents populated by different races.

The reason for the game’s re-release stems directly from the fans. Many original players of the World of Warcraft franchise have felt that the original magic and nostalgia of the old game has been lost with successive expansions and upgrades. So great was the demand for the original game that a private server, Nostalrius, was set up by fans before being closed with a cease and desist letter. To re-experience the game’s first and original context, Blizzard finally announced World of Warcraft Classic back in 2017. Classic will run on its own dedicated servers and has been met with much enthusiasm by World of Warcraft fans.

Re-engage with your childhood self

Capped at level 60, players will be able to re-engage (or engage for the first time) with the original World of Warcraft universe. In this universe, players take on class roles and commit to different skills and talents. To acquire mastership over these skills, players can join guilds and focus on producing items through tailoring, jewellery craft, blacksmithing or mining, among others. Although the gameplay is open, players must complete quests provided by NPCs and can do so with other players, earning experience to level-up and advance.
