Battlefield 1 is an FPS (first-person shooter) game. It is developed by EA DICE; Electronic Arts is the publisher of the game. Though its named Battlefield 1, the game is the fifteenth instalment in the series of the Battlefield. It is also Battlefield series’ first main entry since Battlefield 4.The game was released worldwide for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows on 21 October 2016.

Plot and Features of the Battlefield 1

Similar to its predecessors, the Battlefield 1 is emphasising on teamwork. The game is set in the World War I period, and it’s inspired by historical events. The players use World War I weapons such as mustard gas, flamethrowers, artillery, automatic as well as semi-automatic rifles and bolt-action rifles to fight enemies.

Melee Combat Reworked

Dice introduced new melee weapons like shovels, trench clubs and sabre into the game. The melee weapons were classified into three groups: light, medium and heavy. Also, players can take control of various armoured vehicles such as an LZ 30 airship, a dreadnought, reconnaissance vehicles, an armoured train, tri- and bi-plane aircraft, torpedo boats, armoured trucks, heavy and light tanks. Additionally, they can ride horses into combat.
Destructible environments, as well as weapon customization features that are present in the preceding games, are back in Battlefield 1; they are more dynamic.

Daniel Berlin, the game’s world designer, stated that the campaign mode has more open and larger open environments when compared to the previous instalments in the franchise. The game has more choices and options regarding paths to completing levels plus how to approach combat.

Characters

The players can control a number of characters in the campaign. When they die in the prologue, they start controlling another soldier and role rather than reloading from a checkpoint. The roles include a rifleman, flame trooper and a tank gunner. If a player dies, a name will appear on a real soldier’s screen, along with the year they were born.
