About this game

WRATH Aeon of Ruin, an upcoming FPS (first-person shooter) video game, was developed by KillPixel Games. The publishers of this game are 1C Entertainment and 3D Realms. It features a modified version of id Software’s Quake engine, which makes this game the first major video game release on this engine in almost two decades.

Release date

The first episode of this fast-paced combat video game was released on Steam alpha-access on 22 November 2019. The full version of this video game is expected to be available to the public from July to the end of December 2020.

In the game, the player takes control of the mysterious figure Outlander who is drifting upon the Ageless Sea. The Outlander is taken to the shores of a world that seems like it’s dying. The Shepherd of Wayward Soul, cloaked in white, approach the Outlander and tasks him with hunting down all the surviving Guardians of the Old World. The Guardians used to be angelic protectors, but they have now fallen into corruption, destroying this world. The player must travel into the vast darkness to explore ancient ruins, battle the horrors lurking within and discover forgotten secrets.

WRATH follows the tradition of the FPS games released in the nineties such as Quake, Hexen, Blood and Doom: It’s a fast-paced combat game and has the same themes and subjects of these video games. To the classic FPS formula, WRATH Aeon of Ruin has added light role-playing elements. The player can collect skills and items to upgrade the abilities of the Outlander, which help in exploration and combat.

WRATH comes with a unique save system that’s based on Soul Tethers. You can save at any stage in the game just like in Quake. However, the capability of saving is a consumable resource. For instance, you can look for Soul Tethers and use them to save after or before a certain difficult section. You can carry Soul tethers between levels, allowing you to accumulate numerous saves. Additionally, within the levels, there are occasional shrine placements acting as checkpoint saves.
